Design and Implementation of Multi-camera Systems Distributed over a Spherical Geometry

Omnidirectional Vision Multiple images of a scene can be used to enhance the performance envelope of a scene captured by digital cameras. Increase image resolution and dynamic range are examples of such enhancements. Multi-camera systems are the foundation of emerging technologies such as free view point TV. The Panoptic system is a multi-focal omnidirectional camera which has all the attributes of a multi-camera system. In addition the spherical arrangement of the camera modules in the Panoptic system enables omnidirectional vision capture.
